The route marked by her sculptures

 RENÉE VAN LEUSDEN’S PATH

Renée van Leusden (Netherlands 1947) attended the prestigious Royal College of Arts in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Since becoming a sculptress in 1973, her work has been exhibited around the world. Renée’s creations can be found in a number of collections, ranging from government establishments, various companies and private collections. Her big break through came in 1991, when Renée’s work was included for the “Mac 2000: Femmes Contemporaines Exposition” in Paris.

Renée van Leusden sculpts life. Her works show a deep social involvement and interest in people. They do not simply portray emotions, they are emotion. Gentleness, compassion, anger and fear. Love, helplessness, wealth, poverty, joy and pain. This makes her work current and universal.

Renée van Leusden’s evolution is striking; her work first shrouded in cloth, later becoming more accessible, more open. In the beginning her works were more basic, brought back to a few simple lines. Now it receives all the freedom it asks for. Letting go of preconceptions, crossing borders. Renée van Leusden’s path, the route marked by her sculptures.
